OYSA Welcomes Back Perry Van Der Beck
New Technical Director

The Oldsmar Youth Soccer Association is excited to announce the arrival of Perry Van Der Beck as the clubs Technical Director for the 2018/19 season.  General Manager and Director of Operations, John Linse stated, "We couldn't be more pleased with the return of Perry to the club.  His dedication to the youth soccer players in our area, competitive and recreational, is surpassed by none.  He is a real institution in our area and we can't wait for him to take over the reins as head of our player and coaches development.

For the past 40 years, Van Der Beck has left his mark on the game of soccer as the number one high school draft pick for the Tampa Bay Rowdies, a former US National Team player, US Olympic Team Captain and United States Soccer Federation Player of the Year.  Van Der Beck also coached in Major League Soccer for the Tampa Bay Mutiny.

Van Der Beck began his playing career with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the original North American Soccer League and ended it with the Tampa Bay Terror of the indoor National Professional Soccer League. He also earned 23 caps, scoring two goals, with the U.S. National Team from 1979-85. In 1985, Van Der Beck was selected the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year. He played for various indoor and outdoor teams until 1998, when he retired as a player and became an assistant coach and head coach with the Tampa Bay Mutiny of Major League Soccer.

Upon leaving the Mutiny, Van Der Beck replaced Peter Vermes as the Super Y-League Olympic Development Program National Camp Technical Director. He also spent two seasons as a staff coach with the Adidas Elite Soccer Program, which identifies the nation's best high school players and coaches them in week long training programs. Van Der Beck also served on the U.S. Soccer Board of Directors from 1986-93. Van Der Beck currently holds a USSF "B" License.
